After qualifying in December 1988 Catherine returned to her home town and started work at Handside Dental Surgery as a full time associate. Handside Lane is a four surgery practice together with hygienist facilities and on site laboratory. After 3 years Catherine then became a partner and in 2013 became the majority partner.
Catherine specialises in being a family dentist and in January will be celebrating 25 years at the practice. She now works full time at the practice where she provide NHS, Denplan and Private dental services with her associate Miss Geneen and manages the the team of in house specialists providing reconstructive, cosmetic, periodontic and endodontic services.
Catherine comes from a family of dentists; Brother John is a Consultant specialist prosthodontist-in private practice in Sloane Square John has many years of teaching young post graduate dentists at the Eastman Dental Hospital, London. Sarah, sister, a consultant orthodontist at Kings College Dental Hospital and in private practice on Harley Street and sister-in-law-Kim Piper - Professor in Oral Pathology at the Royal London Hospital. She therefore has a network of leading dental contacts in addition to the specialists that work within her practice that she can call upon when the need arises.
Catherine prides herself in her patient care and providing a high quality dental service to all members of the family from babies to grandparents and is now able to provide a complete range of dental treatments in house.

Graham has lived in St. Albans from the age of 11, when he attended St. Albans Grammar School for Boys (now Verulam School). He graduated from Bristol in 1980, spent two years in Somerset, then returned to Hertfordshire and joined the practice in November 1982. He became an expense sharing partner in 1985. He has remained an NHS general practitioner, and has treated whole families throughout this time.
His interests include photography, art and computer programming. He runs the computer club at Sandringham school.

Sara graduated from Leeds University in 2001 and immediately started working in Hertfordshire and in 2003 joined Handside Dental Surgery as an Associate Dentist. Sara undertook a post-graduate course and obtained her Membership of the Faculty of Dental Practitioners. She has also undertaken the General Practice Training course where she attended weekly lectures and spent time shadowing hospital specialists.
Sara loves working in Welwyn Garden City and in a family based dental practice. "It’s nice to have been working at the same practice where I’ve seen the children grow up and some of them even go on to do dentistry themselves! " said Sara.
Sara is attending the core courses within the Continuous Professional Development program for dentistry. She enjoys general practice, working with all age groups and being able to provide a wide range of treatments depending on her patients’ need.
She is also interested in the broad spectrum of dental care including restorative work, paediatric dentistry and root canal treatments.
In her spare time, Sara enjoys tennis, swimming and travel. She particularly loves cooking and is always busy in the kitchen entertaining friends and family, and her children.

Andrew is our resident specialist in restorative dentistry and prosthodontics. Andrew qualified from Birmingham Dental School in 1979, gaining extensive oral surgery experience at hospitals in the West Midlands as well as University College Hospital, London.
He obtained a specialist degree in Conservative Dentistry and underwent extensive higher training in Restorative Dentistry at Guy's Hospital, London. Andrew is a registered specialist in Restorative Dentistry and Prosthodontics with the General Dental Council and a Consultant in Restorative Dentistry at the Lister Hospital, Stevenage, Hertfordshire.
Andrew is on the council of the British Society for Restorative Dentistry and a member of the British Dental Association, The Association of Consultants and Specialists in Restorative Dentistry, The British Society for the Study of Prosthetic Dentistry, The Association of Dental Implantology and the Faculty of Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He is a fellow of the Faculty of Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
Andrew is an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in The Diploma in Implant Dentistry examination and for the Royal College of Surgeons of England in their Membership in Restorative Dentistry. Both these examinations lead to specialist qualifications and recognition.
Andrew has over 20 years’ experience in treating patients with implants. His particular interests are in cosmetic dentistry and extensive reconstructions of broken down teeth, using implants, with crowns, bridges or dentures fixed to them, to recreate natural smiles and restore patients' confidence.
Andrew has worked in private practice in Welwyn Garden City accepting referrals since 2003.

Felice is our resident Periodontist as well as a specialist in prosthodontics. Feice completed his undergraduate training in Odontoiatria e protesi dentaria from the Universita` Politecnica delle Marche (Italy) in 2000. He then completed his restorative postgraduate training in the department of Aesthetic Dentistry at the University of Buffalo (USA) in 2004.
Felice went on to complete his postgraduate training in the department of Periodontology and Implant Dentistry at the New York University (USA) in 2008.
He has lectured in the subject of Aesthetic and Implant Dentistry in various European and American Universities and dental congresses such as the Greater New York Dental Meeting and the Academy of Osseointegration.
Felice has taught Prosthodontics at the Eastman Dental Institute (UCL) and Periodontology at Guy`s Hospital (KCL) where he currently holds a position as a Specialist Clinical Teacher.
Since 2008 he has worked in multiple dental practices in London on a referral basis and has recently joined our team in Welwyn Garden City focusing on the delicate interrelations between Prosthodontics and Periodontology using cutting edge technique to achieve the ultimate aesthetic results for his patients.
Felice is an asset to our team and we hope that many of our patients will benefit from his expertise.

Dr Alessandro Falanga

Alex is our resident Specialistt Endodontist having completed his Master of Science Degree in Endodontology at Guy’s Hospital – King’s College of London in 2012 after which he is determined to continue his professional development and clinical expertise.
He achieved his first dental qualification in 2002 at the Universita Cattolica in Rome, Italy. He believes that such international learning and clinical experience enriches his work in the general dental and endodontic fields, providing him with extensive knowledge of dental techniques and technology.
Alex is a specialist in the use of endodontic techniques and procedures- root canal therapy and treatment for dental traumas. Dedicated to providing quality care, Alex’s interest in endodontic dentistry serves as a strong foundation for advancing his knowledge in dentistry and a dedication to achieve the best results for his patients. Alex has published several papers on the subject of endodontics, both nationally and internationally.
Since 2004 he has worked in multiple dental practices in London and the Home Counties on a referral basis and in 2011he joined our team in Welwyn Garden City solely focusing on the subject of endodontics using state of the art Global G4 dental microscope.
Alex is an asset to our team and we hope that many of our patients will benefit from his expertise.

Simone gained an Honours degree in Medical Microbiology in 2002 before then attending the University of London Queen Mary and Westfield where she obtained her Diploma in Dental Hygiene and Dental Therapy in 2004.
Simone is able to use her microbiology skills as well as her research background gained in the field of halitosis from her time working for GlaxoSmithKline as a research dental hygienist in her role as a specialist hygienist to the benefit of her patients.
Since 2004 Simone has been working in private practice in London and the Home Counties as both hygienist and therapist and has worked closely with a number of Specialist Periodontists and as such Simone works closely with our Periodontist Felice.

Julie began her career at Handside Dental Surgery as a dental nurse in 1978. During this time she decided that she wanted to further her career and become a Dental Hygienist. She did her training as a civilian, at the The Institute of Dental Health and Training as RAF Halton where she qualified in 1981.
She then spent the next year working as a Hygienist, in the specialised dental unit at Leavesden Hospital, providing treatment for children and adults with physical and mental disabilities.
Julie returned to Handside Dental Surgery in 1982, to provide dental hygiene services to NHS, Denplan and Private patients. She has also worked part time at six other Hertfordshire dental practices during her career.
Julie is the longest serving member of the dental team, with a career at Handside spanning over 3 decades. Julie said "It's a pleasure to still be treating many of the same patients today as I did 30 years ago".
